Mexican Peso
Gold Coins
Some
of the most beautiful coins in the world are the Gold Peso Coins
from Mexico. The most striking is the majestic Mexican 50 Peso
coin, commonly called the Mex50, pictured here. The inspiring
design of the winged Angel of Victory soaring above the ancient
mountains of Mexico on the obverse and the Eagle and Serpent
on the Cactus (the national symbol of Mexico) on the reverse
make this coin attractive to collectors as well as investors.
These coins are unusual in that the gold content is higher than
the standard 1 ounce, one-half ounce, one-quarter ounce, etc.
(See above.) Because they contain more pure gold than the standard
issues of other national mints, they are an exceptional value
in bullion coins.
